Hand-written on binder paper
Proper name or subject at the top, date, page, and col. #s listed below
The vocabulary grew as she indexed
Mostly flat, some pre-co terms
Each listing includes a line or two of summary
Main index available on CD-ROM and keyword searchable, but there is more only available at the Heritage Guild in the original binders
Created a name index for the Herald dating back to 1877
Also created index cards for the old tax records, stored in a traditional card catalogue
She also knew where everything was stored in the collection
The collection didn't have an index; just Barbara
Currently have 4 different indexes, not including the artifacts
Photographs, local papers, clippings file, and tax records
Each has its own vocabulary
In the process of consolidating and standardizing
Using PastPerfect
Still using Barbara's vocabulary for papers.
Also in the process of indexing the artifacts collection and donations as they come in
