Welcome to the library. Pull up a chair, grab a candle, and enjoy what there is to offer.
These are short stories and essays done by me and some of my friends during the late 90s and early 00s. My current ongoing original fiction project is Silver, but progress on that has unfortunately been slow. Lately I've been dabbling in fanfiction, which you can find on my Paper Demon page . There are also some vignettes and a few short stories up at my Elfwood Library.

A science fiction story set in the not-too-distant future. It's gotten so large I've moved it to its own page. |

Xanthera (Currently misplaced. Will hopefully return at a later date.) This is a story that was done in four parts, by four different people. So before you read the actual story, you may want to take a look at the picture, the character outline, and the plot outline. Some friends of mine and I got together during the summer before I went off to school ('96) and did this modified round-robin, and I wrote this my first semester of college. It's kinda dark, but I still like it. |

This is a story I wrote my junior year in high school, for a short story contest. It won third place. Looking at it now I can see how my writing has changed since then, but my basic style has stayed the same. |

This one was done the year after, for the same short story contest. I couldn't put as much effort into it as the first one (due to time constraints), and it is not, in my opinion, as good. But it did win third place. The friend in the story is loosly based on someone i used to know. |

I wrote this story the first semester of my senior year in college, for a science fiction class I was taking. For our final essay, we had the choice of either an analytical essay or a short science fiction story. Big surprize what I chose ^_^. The idea of the story and the ending are sort of tributes to The Handmaid's Tale, which we had just read. Yes, the story reads like the begining of a much longer work. No, I don't have any plans to expand it. |

A short story by Lori Carver, about a race horse who makes a spectacular comeback. Lori (my college roommate) was taking a fiction writing class. I wish I could have taken it, too :-(. It didn't fit into my schedule. |

Another short story by Lori Carver, also from her fiction writing class, this one about a boy who won't let circumstance dim his outlook on life. |

The Bible Told Me To: The Religion of Hate An essay on religious bigotry, by Janette Knight. Remember to keep an open mind; this essay is designed to provoke thought. |

A short story about fencers by Shelley Hawkins. It's a fun read, and not that far from reality ^_~. |
That's all for now. Hope you enjoy! Drop me a note and let me know what you think. Remember, all of the stories here are owned and copyrighted by the author.
